The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission has issued emergency hotline numbers for Nigerians living in or travelling through parts of the Middle East amid rising tensions linked to the ongoing Iran-related conflict.
In a public advisory shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the commission urged Nigerians in affected countries to save the emergency contacts and immediately reach out to the nearest Nigerian diplomatic mission if they face distress or emergency situations.
The advisory comes as concerns grow over the potential impact of the escalating conflict in the Middle East, which has heightened fears about the safety of foreign nationals across several countries in the Gulf and Levant regions.
According to NiDCOM, the emergency lines were created to ensure Nigerians abroad can quickly access consular assistance as the security situation continues to evolve.
Nigerian Missions Covered
The notice applies to Nigeria’s diplomatic missions in several Middle Eastern cities, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait City, Tel Aviv, Doha, Beirut, Riyadh, Jeddah, and Amman.
Each of the missions has been assigned dedicated emergency contact numbers to assist Nigerians who may require urgent help.
Safety Advisory
The commission also advised Nigerians residing in the region to remain alert and strictly follow safety directives issued by local authorities.
It further encouraged citizens to maintain regular contact with Nigerian embassies and consulates for updates, guidance, and assistance during the ongoing crisis.
NiDCOM stressed the importance of relying only on official information while taking necessary precautions as the situation in the Middle East continues to develop.
