The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered stolen valuables during stop-and-search operations at the General Gas Area of Akobo, Ibadan, the state capital.
The suspects were identified as Abiodun Michael, Olaoluwa Pamole, and Ahmed Ismail, while a fourth accomplice, Lamidi, remains at large.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the operation began when officers intercepted Abiodun Michael riding a motorcycle. On sighting the police, he attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended.
During interrogation, Michael reportedly confessed to participating in a robbery with Pamole, Ismail, and Lamidi, targeting unsuspecting members of the public around the Toll Gate and Egbeda areas of Ibadan.
“Investigations revealed the suspect had been on the Police radar for some time and is known to operate along the Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo state borders,” Ayanlade said.
Police operatives, in collaboration with the Command Monitoring Unit and led by the Divisional Police Officer, Akobo Division, raided a meeting point at Access Hotel, Sawmill, Onipepeye Area, Iwo Road, Ibadan, where Pamole and Ismail were arrested.

The State Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, has directed that the case be handled by the Command Monitoring Unit for discreet investigation and prosecution, while efforts continue to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
The Oyo Police Command commended the diligence and professionalism of the operatives and expressed gratitude to Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for his guidance.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and claim recovered valuables from recent robberies in the Egbeda and Toll Gate areas after verification.
“The Oyo State Police Command reassures residents of their safety and remains committed to protecting lives and property at all times,” Ayanlade concluded.
