Mojtaba Khamenei has issued his first public message since assuming leadership, urging unity among Iranians while acknowledging the heavy losses suffered during the recent conflict.
The statement, broadcast on Iranian state television, conveyed condolences to families who lost loved ones during the crisis and assured citizens that efforts would be made to compensate for damages caused by the war.
Khamenei stressed that national unity would be essential for the country to overcome the aftermath of the conflict.
“We must safeguard this unity, and it can only be achieved when we stand together and find common ground,” the statement said.
He also spoke about his personal grief, linking his own losses to those experienced by many Iranians. According to him, the recent attacks claimed the lives of his father, the former Supreme Leader, as well as other members of his family.
Khamenei said he had lost both his father and his wife in the strikes, while his sister also lost her husband and child.
Despite the tragedies, he urged citizens to remain patient and place their trust in divine guidance, saying faith would help the nation endure difficult times.
The new leader also commended Iranians “from all walks of life” who stood firm during the conflict and praised their resilience.
At the same time, Khamenei warned that those killed in the conflict would not be forgotten, stating that Iran would eventually seek justice for what he described as the “martyrs” of the war.
He said the issue was not only about the killing of the country’s supreme leader but also about every Iranian who died during the recent hostilities.
