The Court of Appeal in Abuja has, on Thursday, dismissed an appeal filed by former Senate President David Mark in the ongoing leadership tussle within the African Democratic Congress.
The case was brought by Nafiu Bala Gombe, a former Deputy National Chairman, who is challenging Mark’s emergence as National Chairman.
The appellate court upheld a preliminary objection, ruling that it lacked jurisdiction to hear Mark’s appeal.
While the decision weakens Mark’s claim to the party’s leadership, the court did not affirm Bala as chairman, leaving the ADC’s leadership unresolved.
The dispute, which also involves the position of National Secretary, continues to divide the party ahead of critical political activities.
