A 16-year-old boy, Emmanuel Danladi, has allegedly shot and killed his friend, Titus Joseph, during a tragic incident in Kwamba.
The incident occurred on March 1 while the two teenagers were reportedly playing at Emmanuel’s residence in Suleja Local Government Area.
According to reports, Emmanuel picked up a loaded dane gun belonging to his father, Danladi Baba, who is a member of a local vigilante group.
During the encounter, the teenager allegedly fired the weapon at close range, hitting Titus in the stomach and causing fatal injuries.
Police operatives from the Maje Division of the Nigeria Police Force responded to the incident and evacuated the victim’s body to General Hospital Suleja.
Following the incident, Emmanuel and his father were arrested over alleged negligence and culpable homicide.
The dane gun used in the shooting was recovered by the police as evidence.
Both suspects were later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The spokesperson of the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, noting that investigations are ongoing.
