Some leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for what they described as improved infrastructural development across the state’s 18 local government areas.
The party leaders, operating under the platform of the Concerned Grassroots Leaders in Ondo APC, also cautioned those involved in legal actions against the governor not to distract him with court cases.
Their comments followed a recent ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Akure, which reportedly halted the governor’s alleged plan to contest for a second term.
Reacting to the development earlier, Aiyedatiwa stated that he was taken to court despite never publicly declaring any intention to seek re-election.
Speaking with journalists in Akure on Monday, the convener of the group, Babajide Akinwolere, said the governor had shown commitment, stability and purposeful leadership in managing the affairs of the state and should not be distracted by what he termed unnecessary litigations.
“People should not distract the governor with unnecessary litigations; he is doing well in the state. His administration has continued to place the welfare of the people at the centre of governance while ensuring that development reaches every part of the state,” Akinwolere said.
He noted that the administration had continued existing infrastructure projects while also initiating new ones aimed at improving transportation, boosting economic activities and enhancing connectivity among communities across the state.
According to him, the government has also remained focused on improving education, healthcare services, youth empowerment and support for small and medium-scale enterprises.
Akinwolere urged residents and political actors to allow the governor concentrate on developmental projects since he had not declared any intention to contest for a second term.
Another APC chieftain, Dele Akarigbo, described Aiyedatiwa as a law-abiding leader who respects the rule of law.
He stated that the governor would abide by whatever decision the court eventually delivers.
“Don’t forget, the governor is a law-abiding person. Whatever the court says, our governor is ready to abide by a judicial pronouncement,” Akarigbo said.
However, he added that the wishes of the people would also play a significant role when the time comes for political decisions in the state.
