Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to embark on a landmark state visit to the United Kingdom from March 17 to 19, in a move aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and the UK.
The visit, to be hosted at Windsor Castle, will begin with a ceremonial welcome that includes a guard of honour inspection, the playing of national anthems, and a royal carriage procession. The programme will also feature formal receptions and a state banquet.
During the visit, President Tinubu is expected to hold meetings with Charles III and Queen Camilla before proceeding to other bilateral engagements.
At 10 Downing Street, the Nigerian leader will engage in high-level discussions with the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer. The talks will focus on key areas including trade, security cooperation, migration management, and port development.
The discussions are expected to deepen cooperation between both countries and create new opportunities for bilateral partnerships.
As part of the visit, Tinubu will also lay a wreath at The Cenotaph in Westminster to honour fallen servicemen. He is also scheduled to meet with members of the Nigerian diaspora and witness the signing of bilateral agreements at Buckingham Palace.
Authorities have indicated that extensive security arrangements, road closures, and rehearsals for ceremonial activities will take place during the visit, highlighting its significance in Nigeria–UK relations.
The trip marks Nigeria’s first full state visit to the United Kingdom in 57 years, signaling a renewed commitment to diplomatic engagement and international cooperation between the two nations.
