Nigeria’s top military chiefs have arrived at the Maiduguri Air Force Base following a directive from President Bola Tinubu, who ordered their immediate relocation to Borno State in response to recent terrorist attacks.
The development comes amid heightened security concerns in the North-East, where coordinated assaults targeted military positions. President Tinubu, in a statement shared on his official X handle, expressed condolences to families of victims while commending troops for their efforts in repelling the attacks.
He described the incidents as desperate attempts by terrorist elements to create fear, insisting that such actions reflect increasing pressure from Nigerian security forces.
“I have directed the service chiefs to move to Maiduguri to take charge of the situation,” the President stated, adding that emergency response agencies have also been instructed to provide adequate medical care for those injured.
Upon arrival, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) were received by the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, alongside other senior military officials at the air base.
The move signals a renewed push by the Federal Government to strengthen on-ground military coordination and restore stability in the region.
