The House of Repesentatives session
Eight members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have officially defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party to the All Progressives Congress.
The announcement of their defection was made on Tuesday during plenary, which was presided over by the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas.
In separate letters presented before the House, the lawmakers attributed their decision to the lingering internal crisis within the NNPP, which they said made their continued stay in the party untenable.
The development drew the attention of key political figures, including Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf; Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; and former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, all of whom were present during the plenary.
More details are expected to emerge as the situation develops.
