The Borno State Police Command has called on residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious as Muslims observe the last ten days of Ramadan.
The command also urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities, movements, or individuals to the nearest police station, assuring that security measures have been strengthened across the state.
This was contained in a statement issued in Maiduguri by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, and made available to journalists on Tuesday.
According to the police, the final days of Ramadan often witness increased movements and gatherings, particularly during religious activities such as Tafsir, Iftar, and night prayers.
Daso noted that while the command recognises the spiritual significance of the sacred period, residents should remain alert and mindful of their surroundings.
“As the Muslim faithful enter the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan, the Borno State Police Command urges members of the public to remain vigilant and security conscious while observing religious activities,” the statement said.
The police further revealed that patrols and surveillance have been intensified across Maiduguri and other parts of Borno State, especially around mosques, prayer grounds, and locations hosting large public gatherings.
Residents were encouraged to make use of the command’s emergency contact lines or visit the nearest police station to report any suspicious persons, objects, or movements.
The command emphasised that public cooperation is essential in maintaining peace and ensuring a safe environment for worshippers during the closing days of Ramadan.
