The Nigeria Police Force in Bauchi State has arrested two police constable candidates for allegedly presenting forged certificates during a recruitment screening at the Police Training School Bauchi.
The command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.
Habib explained that the screening exercise was led by A.Y. Dickson, who headed the team conducting the recruitment process at the training school.
According to the police, a total of 403 candidates were screened during the exercise, including 354 applicants for General Duty and 49 Specialist candidates.
During the screening, two applicants were discovered with forged results from the National Examinations Council (NECO).
Habib revealed that both suspects bore the same name, Yusuf Usman, and had reportedly been moving together throughout the screening process before their documents were discovered to be fake.
Following the discovery, the team leader directed that the suspects be handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of the ‘E’ Division for further investigation.
The police spokesperson also warned applicants against engaging in fraudulent practices during recruitment exercises, stressing that such actions would lead to arrest and possible prosecution.
The ongoing screening exercise forms part of the nationwide recruitment programme aimed at enlisting 50,000 new constables into the Nigeria Police Force.
