The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially declared Morocco as winners of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following a decision by its Appeal Board.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Tuesday night, overturning the earlier outcome of the final match.
Initially, Senegal had defeated hosts Morocco 1–0 in a controversial final played on January 18, 2026.
However, CAF stated that its Appeal Board, acting in accordance with Article 84 of the AFCON regulations, ruled that Senegal forfeited the match.
As a result, the final scoreline was adjusted to 3–0 in favour of Morocco, effectively awarding the title to the North African nation.
The ruling overturned an earlier disciplinary decision that had upheld Senegal’s victory, following an appeal lodged by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football.
