Ibrahim Gotan, Osun State Police Commissioner, has called on parents to guide their children against unlawful gatherings and disruptive activities ahead of the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
In a statement released on Wednesday in Osogbo, Gotan emphasized that the police command is fully prepared to ensure public safety, protect lives and property, and prevent incidents that could disrupt peace during and after the festivities.
The commissioner noted that officers have been strategically deployed to mosques, prayer grounds, markets, and other public areas to guarantee a secure and smooth celebration.
“Religious and community leaders are encouraged to continue promoting messages of harmony, mutual respect, and lawful conduct, even beyond Ramadan,” Gotan said.
He further urged motorists to obey traffic rules and advised the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via the command’s control room at 08039537995 or 08123823981.
The commissioner also extended warm Eid greetings to Muslim faithful across the state.
In a related development, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) announced the deployment of over 53,500 personnel nationwide for Eid security.
The deployment, which includes tactical operatives and intelligence teams, aims to protect citizens, safeguard critical national assets, and ensure a peaceful and hitch-free festive period, according to NSCDC spokesperson Babawale Afolabi.
Security during major religious festivities is a key priority across Nigeria. Proactive measures by police and security agencies not only protect lives and property but also help maintain public order and reduce the risk of accidents, crime, and other disruptions during celebrations.
