The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has rejected media reports claiming that it has selected a gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 elections, describing the publication as false, speculative, and misleading.
In a statement released in Ibadan, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, urged members and the public to disregard the report entirely, insisting that no such decision has been made.
The party clarified that it has not begun the process of receiving expressions of interest from aspirants, noting that it is too early in the electoral cycle.
“We have no knowledge of any individual’s ambition as far as the 2027 elections are concerned. It is not yet time,” the statement read.
The APC emphasised that it remains committed to constitutional and democratic procedures in selecting its candidates, in line with guidelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the party, its current priority is the successful completion of internal congresses ahead of its National Convention scheduled to hold in Abuja.
It stressed that all eligible members would be given equal opportunity to contest when the time comes, assuring fairness and transparency in the selection process.
While dismissing the gubernatorial claim, the party reiterated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains its sole endorsed presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.
