Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has extended his congratulations to Nentawe Yilwatda following his successful screening and emergence as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, alongside other members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the governor described Yilwatda’s emergence through a consensus process as a clear reflection of the APC’s dedication to inclusive and people-centered leadership. He noted that the development aligns with the vision of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 general elections.
Governor Mutfwang commended party leaders and stakeholders for demonstrating maturity, unity, and strategic foresight in strengthening internal democracy within the APC. According to him, their collective efforts have enhanced cohesion within the party and created a fair environment for members to pursue their political ambitions without conflict.
He also acknowledged the leadership contributions of Prof. Yilwatda since his unanimous adoption in June 2025, highlighting key strides such as fostering reconciliation among members, introducing e-registration to reorganize party membership, and repositioning the APC for long-term growth and electoral success.
Expressing confidence in Yilwatda’s leadership capacity, the governor pointed to his strong background in digital transformation, energy research, and information and communication technology, as well as his experience as a Resident Electoral Commissioner, as qualities that position him well to steer the party ahead of future elections.
Mutfwang further appreciated the role of top national figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, along with other stakeholders, for zoning the national chairmanship position to the North Central region, particularly Plateau State.
He emphasized that Plateau State is home to individuals of proven integrity and competence in public service, expressing optimism that Yilwatda will promote unity, peace, and progressive leadership within the party while consolidating its values of justice, tolerance, and compassion.
The governor concluded by wishing the new APC National Chairman wisdom, strength, and good health as he assumes the responsibility of leading the party into the future.
