Senate President, Godswill Akpabio
As Muslims nationwide celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the faithful, urging compassion, forgiveness, and national unity.
In a message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio lauded Muslims for completing the spiritual exercise of fasting during Ramadan. He encouraged the continuation of almsgiving, empathy, and love for others, especially the less privileged.
“This joyous occasion reminds us of the values of compassion, forgiveness, and unity that Eid-el-Fitr represents. May the spirit of this celebration inspire empathy, generosity, and the pursuit of a more harmonious Nigeria,” the statement read.
Akpabio also conveyed his best wishes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and all Nigerians, praying for peace, progress, and prosperity across the nation.
The congratulatory note follows the declaration by the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, confirming Friday, March 20, 2026, as the first day of Shawwal and Eid-el-Fitr.
The Federal Government also announced Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark the end of Ramadan, extending warm greetings to the Muslim faithful across Nigeria.
