NDC unveils Kwankwaso’s son as running mate

Political activities ahead of the 2027 elections are beginning to gather momentum, and the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has made a significant move in Kano State with the unveiling of Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso as its deputy governorship candidate.

Mustapha, the first son of the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will contest alongside Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the NDC’s governorship flagbearer in Kano State.

The announcement was confirmed in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Habibu Saleh Mohammed, who described the development as an important step in the party’s preparations for the 2027 polls.

“HE Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo unveiled Hon. Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as running mate for the 2027 Governorship Election,” Mohammed stated.

The decision has already sparked discussions among political observers, many of whom believe the move could strengthen the NDC’s influence in Kano, one of Nigeria’s most politically significant states.

Kano has long been a stronghold of the Kwankwasiyya movement, a grassroots political structure founded by Rabiu Kwankwaso. Supporters of the ticket argue that the partnership between Aminu Gwarzo and Mustapha Kwankwaso combines experience with youthful energy.
