A domestic dispute in Ondo State has taken a dramatic turn after a woman was arraigned by the police for allegedly attacking her husband with a machete, leaving him with serious injuries.
The Ondo State Police Command confirmed that the suspect was brought before the court following an investigation into the incident, which reportedly occurred in the early hours of June 2, 2026.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the woman allegedly attacked her husband, identified as Olatunde Julius, during a heated altercation at about 2:30 a.m.
“The suspect inflicted serious injuries on her husband’s left hand during the altercation,” Jimoh disclosed during a press briefing.
The police spokesperson explained that the victim was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where he received urgent medical attention. Medical personnel later issued a report detailing the extent of the injuries, which formed part of the evidence used during the investigation.
Following the completion of the inquiry, the police concluded that there was sufficient evidence to prosecute the suspect.
“After thorough investigations, the command found sufficient evidence and has charged the suspect to court to face prosecution,” Jimoh stated.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the growing concern over domestic violence and the need for early intervention in family disputes. Security experts have repeatedly warned that unresolved domestic conflicts can quickly escalate into life-threatening situations when not addressed promptly.
Reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting residents, Jimoh stressed that acts of domestic violence would not be tolerated under any circumstance.
“Domestic violence is unacceptable. It endangers lives and undermines the peace of our communities. The command remains committed to combating all forms of abuse,” he said.
He also urged members of the public to report cases of abuse to security agencies before situations spiral out of control.
“We encourage members of the public to report domestic violence cases immediately. Swift intervention is key to protecting victims and preventing further harm,” he added.
The case serves as a reminder of the importance of peaceful conflict resolution and the legal consequences that may follow violent domestic disputes.
