Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji

The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji, has prohibited the display of political banners and the wearing of clothing or caps bearing party logos during the Eid-el-Fitr prayers across the town.

The directive, conveyed through the Asiwaju of Osogboland, Justice Moshood Adeigbe (Rtd), also extends to banning political discussions at all Eid prayer grounds.

According to the monarch, the decision followed a stakeholders’ meeting involving the Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa Animasahun, security agencies, and representatives of political parties in Osun State.

Oba Oyetunji emphasised that the restriction is aimed at maintaining peace and order during the religious celebration. He warned that security agencies have been mandated to take firm action against anyone who violates the directive.

He further stated that all Muslim faithful attending the Eid prayers must comply strictly with the guidelines, which also include a ban on drummers at prayer venues. Offenders risk immediate arrest by security operatives.

The monarch wished residents a peaceful and successful Eid celebration while urging adherence to the rules to sustain harmony in the city.
