Governor Ademola Adeleke, Osun State
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has issued a stern warning to the contractor handling the Lagere flyover and road dualisation project in Ile-Ife, expressing dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work.
During an inspection of the ongoing projects, Adeleke made it clear that the state government would not tolerate any further delays, insisting that the April deadline must be strictly adhered to.
Accompanied by Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi and Commissioner for Special Duties Bashiru Salami, the governor stressed that the project is of significant importance to the people of Ile-Ife and must be completed as scheduled.
“I am not satisfied with the pace of work. This is unacceptable. There must be no further delay,” Adeleke stated, adding that he had assured the Ooni of Ife and residents of timely delivery.
Governor Flags Off New Road Project in Modakeke
Before inspecting the flyover, Adeleke inaugurated the rehabilitation of the Gbalefefefe–Omi-Igbin–Koola–Asabi Famia Road in Modakeke. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering infrastructure projects across the state.
The governor also highlighted other completed roads, including the Celestial-Ajape and AP-Oronna roads, noting that his government remains focused on providing visible and impactful development.
Traditional Ruler Commends Development Efforts
The Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Joseph Toriola, praised the governor for prioritising development in the area. He expressed appreciation on behalf of the community and pledged continued support for the administration.
Multi-Billion Naira Projects Across Ife Land
The Lagere flyover project, reportedly awarded at N14.9 billion to Sammya Nigeria Limited, is expected to be completed within 12 months.
Adeleke also revealed that rehabilitation work has commenced on over 55 kilometres of local government roads across Ife land, with a total cost of about N30.6 billion.
He assured residents that his administration would continue to invest in infrastructure, recognising Ile-Ife’s historical and cultural importance as the cradle of the Yoruba race.
