The Federal Executive Council on Thursday approved a sweeping infrastructure package aimed at improving transportation nationwide.
Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, disclosed the development after the council meeting, noting that the approvals represent the largest single batch of road projects ever endorsed under the administration of Bola Tinubu.
Umahi also revealed that a separate list of major road projects has been scheduled for inauguration ahead of the President’s third anniversary in office on May 29.
Among the newly approved projects are three additional roads:
The dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu-Ode Road spanning Oyo and Ogun states, covering 56 kilometres in each direction, was approved at a cost of ₦295 billion and awarded to Julius Berger.
Also approved is the Oshogbo–Akoda–Gbongan Road in Osun State, measuring 59.2 kilometres and valued at ₦101 billion.
In addition, the Oshogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road, also in Osun State, will cover 90.9 kilometres at a cost of ₦114 billion.
The approvals highlight the government’s commitment to upgrading road networks, enhancing connectivity, and supporting economic growth across the country.
