Idera 105.3FM invites schools to register for its second quiz and debate competition

Idera Radio 105.3FM, Otan Ayegbaju, has announced the return of its flagship academic competition with the unveiling of the Idera Quiz and Debate Competition (Anniversary Edition), as part of activities marking the station’s first year anniversary.

The competition, which was first introduced last year and received positive participation from schools across Osun State, is returning for its second edition, this time as a special anniversary event aimed at further promoting academic excellence, critical thinking, and effective communication among young learners.

According to the station’s management, the Idera Quiz and Debate Competition (Anniversary Edition) is open to both primary and secondary schools across Osun State and will officially commence on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. The event will run for several days, featuring different stages of the competition before the eventual emergence of winners.

Speaking on the significance of the programme, the management described the competition as one of the station’s major educational initiatives designed to inspire students beyond the classroom.

“Following the success of the maiden edition held last year, we are delighted to bring back the competition in a bigger and more exciting format as part of our first anniversary celebration. Our vision is to continue building confident, knowledgeable, and articulate future leaders.”

The organizers explained that participants will compete in quiz and debate sessions designed to test their academic knowledge, reasoning ability, public speaking skills, teamwork, and confidence under pressure.

According to the station, the competition goes beyond winning trophies.

“We believe education is a powerful tool for community development. This competition is about discovering talents, encouraging healthy academic rivalry, and giving young people a platform to express themselves with confidence.”

Registration has been fixed at ₦15,000 for primary schools to compete in the quiz category and ₦25,000 for secondary schools to compete in the debate category, while schools interested in participating are encouraged to complete their registration before the commencement date.

The competition will be held at the Idera Radio premises along Iyana Iresi–Ila-Orangun Road, Otan Ayegbaju, with proceedings expected to be broadcast live for listeners across the station’s coverage area.

Management also called on school owners, principals, head teachers, parents, and other education stakeholders to support the initiative by encouraging eligible pupils and students to participate.

Highlighting the values behind the programme, the organizers urged participants to embrace the competition’s spirit of “Think Critically, Speak Confidently, Compete and Win,” while reminding them that “Knowledge, Confidence and Excellence” remain the pillars of the event.
