The Osun State Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of 14-year-old Olapade Ezekiel in Ilobu.
According to a press release issued by the Command on Thursday, October 16, 2026, with reference number AZ: 5650/OSS/PPRD/VOL.T1/281, the incident happened on June 21, 2026, at about 3:30pm at a palm-wine joint along Council Road, close to the Irepodun Local Government Headquarters, Ilobu.
The father of the deceased, Mr. Olugbenga Olapade of Ododo Compound, Ilobu, reported the case at Ilobu Police Division around 5pm same day. He told police that he was at the palm-wine shop with his son and other customers when a group of armed men stormed the area in a Sienna bus and started shooting sporadically.
In the process, 14-year-old Ezekiel was hit and died on the spot, while another person, Matthew John, popularly known as Mofoto, sustained gunshot injuries.
Police said since the incident, operatives have been on the trail of the suspects who had been moving from place to place to evade arrest.
Through intelligence-driven investigation, five suspects were eventually arrested:
1. Saheed Kareem a.k.a Tanfiani – 32 years
2. Ismail Yekeen a.k.a Asumo Ayan – 24 years
3. Abass Afeez a.k.a SS Abass – 32 years
4. Salako Taofeek a.k.a Fenuso – 30 years
5. Barrister Abdulrauf Ogunshola
The Command disclosed that all the suspects confessed to taking part in the crime. Further investigation revealed that Salako Taofeek a.k.a Fenuso was the one who fired the shot that killed the teenager.
Fenuso also told investigators that one Alaagba, who is currently at large, is their armourer and custodian of the gun used for the operation. Police say a manhunt is ongoing for his arrest.
The Osun Police Command assured that the investigation is being handled professionally and impartially, and that it will rely on credible evidence and forensic findings to determine the role of each suspect.
The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
