Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 general elections, insisting that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has no excuse to lose if its members remain united.

Uzodimma made the declaration on Wednesday during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja. He is seeking election to represent Imo West Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

“I will be on the ballot as a senatorial candidate,” the governor said.

He urged APC candidates, stakeholders and members to work together to secure victory for President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates nationwide.

Uzodimma described the 2027 elections as a referendum on the performance of APC officeholders, including governors, local government chairmen and legislators.

“This election is as much a referendum on every APC officer or candidate, and I’m included,” he stated.

The governor maintained that the party’s success would depend on unity, commitment and effective teamwork.

“Our party has no excuse not to win,” he declared, expressing confidence that the APC could secure victory if members remained focused.

He also urged party members to set aside personal grievances, reconcile their differences and support all APC candidates.

“We must rally as one family behind the party and all the candidates,” Uzodimma said, adding that members must speak to Nigerians “as one family with one voice and one message.”

His declaration comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with attention turning to candidate selection, party unity and nationwide mobilisation.
