Alhaji Ashafa Erogbogbo
President Bola Tinubu has celebrated elder statesman Alhaji Ashafa Erogbogbo on the occasion of his 100th birthday, describing the achievement as a rare milestone earned through decades of discipline, dedication, integrity, and service to humanity.
In a statement personally signed and released on Wednesday, the President praised the centenarian for living a life marked by professionalism, selflessness, and commitment to national development. Tinubu noted that reaching the age of 100 is not only a blessing but also a reflection of a life well spent in service to both community and country.
The President highlighted Erogbogbo’s distinguished career, which spanned several years across both public and private institutions. According to Tinubu, the elder statesman served diligently at the Government Printing Press, the Nigeria Customs and Excise, and later at Shell Company Nigeria Limited, where he retired as an aviation supervisor.
Tinubu commended his record of excellence and dedication in every position he occupied, adding that his contributions helped shape the institutions he served and positively impacted national growth.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, the President also acknowledged Erogbogbo’s influence as a respected community leader in Ikorodu. He said the centenarian’s wisdom, guidance, and exemplary lifestyle continue to inspire younger generations within Lagos State and beyond.
The celebrant is also the father of Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission. Tinubu joined the family in thanking God for preserving his life and congratulated his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren on the historic celebration.
According to the President, even at 100 years old, Alhaji Erogbogbo remains mentally alert and warm in spirit, qualities he attributed to a lifetime of discipline, faith, and commitment to service.
To commemorate the centenary celebration, a memoir titled Echoes of Grace: The Journey of a Century was also unveiled. Tinubu expressed excitement over the publication, noting that the book would provide insight into the remarkable life journey of a man who witnessed and contributed to decades of national transformation.
The President described the memoir as a fitting tribute to a life defined by resilience, professionalism, and community leadership, while encouraging Nigerians to reflect on the virtues exemplified by the elder statesman.
Tinubu concluded his message with prayers for continued peace, strength, good health, and happiness for Alhaji Ashafa Erogbogbo as he celebrates his centenary year with family, friends, and loved ones.
