The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has reinstated its State Chairman, Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru, more than three months after his suspension from office.

The decision was announced on Thursday by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Isah Abubakar Assalafi, during a press conference held at the APC secretariat in Birnin Kebbi.

Assalafi said the State Working Committee (SWC) revoked Kana-Zuru’s suspension after reviewing subsequent developments surrounding the decision taken in June.

The APC State Working Committee had suspended Kana-Zuru at its meeting on June 20, 2026, through Resolution No. KSWC/010/2026.

However, at a meeting held on October 1, 2026, the committee resolved to revoke the suspension and restore Kana-Zuru to office with immediate effect.

The decision also brought an end to the interim arrangement under which Adamu Mudi Augie had been serving as Acting State Chairman.

Announcing the resolution, Assalafi said, “Accordingly, Alhaji Adamu Mudi Augie shall cease to act as Acting State Chairman and shall resume his substantive office as Deputy State Chairman.”

The party subsequently directed that all official records and documents relating to the office of State Chairman be handed over to Kana-Zuru.

The APC state secretary was also instructed to communicate the resolution to relevant party organs, including the party’s national headquarters, for information and necessary action.

According to the party, Kana-Zuru had immediately resumed all the functions, powers and responsibilities attached to the office of State Chairman.

His reinstatement effectively ended the temporary leadership arrangement that followed his suspension in June.

The party said the decision followed its review of the circumstances surrounding the earlier suspension and developments that occurred afterwards.

With the latest resolution, Kana-Zuru returned to his position as the substantive APC State Chairman in Kebbi, while Augie returned to his substantive role as Deputy State Chairman.

The development also means that all official responsibilities and administrative functions associated with the state chairmanship were transferred back to Kana-Zuru.

The APC directed its relevant organs and officials to take the necessary steps to implement the resolution and formally communicate the decision to the appropriate party authorities.

Kana-Zuru’s reinstatement took effect immediately following the State Working Committee’s meeting on October 1, 2026.
