The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced an extension of its Student Loan Application Portal for the 2025/2026 academic session following requests from some institutions seeking additional time.
According to the agency, the extension applies specifically to institutions that formally requested more time to allow their eligible students complete their applications on the NELFUND student loan platform.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications.
The statement quoted the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, as reaffirming the agency’s commitment to ensuring that all qualified Nigerian students can benefit from the student loan programme.
Sawyerr noted that the initiative is designed to make higher education more accessible by removing financial obstacles that prevent many students from pursuing their academic goals.
“NELFUND remains committed to ensuring that eligible students across participating institutions have the opportunity to access the student loan programme,” he said.
The agency therefore urged all qualified students in the affected institutions to utilise the extension period to complete their applications through the official NELFUND portal.
NELFUND also reiterated its dedication to transparency, accountability, and the provision of sustainable student financing solutions aimed at reducing financial barriers to tertiary education in Nigeria.
